Finding a Day Care Provider
Use our Online Day Care Search to find day care providers in your area.
The child care resource and referral service can assist you in locating day care openings. Please call them at 866.511.2244 or visit their website at: www.mnchildcare.org . You can also use the DHS Licensing Information Search provided by the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
Contact one of Stearns County's day care licensors to see if there are any substantiated complaints on the provider you are considering.
Becoming a Day Care Provider
Becoming a licensed day care provider involves several steps and filling out a number of forms. Initially, you must attend a day care orientation meeting within one year prior to your application for a day care license. Approximately six day care orientation meetings are held each year. The purpose of the orientation meeting is to introduce you to the general Minnesota rules and policies which govern licensing.
Meetings will be held in Room 121B and 121C/D at the Stearns County Service Center (3301 County Road 138, near Mills Fleet Farm - see a map of the Service Center location).
