Seeing some green in your yard by now? A few warm days have made us hope — pray — that spring is finally here.

What a wonderful sunny day! I hope our spring feel weather is finally here to stay!
The weekend calendar brings us to Mother's Day and the Minnesota fishing opener. For me it's going to be a weekend of clean-up at my mother's. That is her hearts-desire and as we honor her this year I look forward to spending time with my siblings and children as we work together.
Recycle. Reduce. Reuse. Truthfully, I'm wondering what I can do with all the oak leaves that are in my yard this year. I remember raking many of them up last fall but we have a large accumulation once again! As I researched this topic; it says they are great to till into your garden. Leaves are a great source of "brown," high-carbon material used for compost to help your garden prosper. It is looking like I will have a very prosperous small garden.
I seriously love this time of year! Happy garden planting, raking and soon flowers blooming to all of you!

So you HAVE waited, just like I told you---GOOD! NOW is a good time to get out your seed-starting materials and reach for summer. Think sun, think TOMATOES! And really, since the earth is still frozen and who knows, by tomorrow snow-covered again, we have time to spare; those outdoor chores that prod us all spring aren’t even a factor.

Last time I looked outside there was more than a foot of snow on the ground, and more promised tomorrow. So why do I even think that more than a few of you are trying to get a jump-start on spring, by starting your tomatoes?
