County Government 101 - How to Get Involved
Board Meetings
Board meetings are open to the public, and citizens are welcome to attend and participate in their County government.
At times, the County Board holds public hearings. They’re used to tell citizens of some action the County plans to take and to gather input from anyone affected by the action. We advertise all public hearings before the meeting, both in the Public Notices area of our web site and in the Cold Spring Record, which is the Official Newspaper of Stearns County.
Public Access Forum
Each Board meeting includes a Public Access Forum. This Forum is an opportunity for anyone to address the Board on an issue that is not already on that day’s agenda.
Contacting Commissioners
Every four years, citizens vote for a commissioner to represent them in County government issues. We encourage all Stearns County residents to get in touch with their County Commissioner, to ask questions or voice any concerns.
Serving on a Committee
Opportunities exist throughout the year for citizens to serve on various boards, committees, commissions and task forces. Stearns County recognizes the importance of the input it receives from citizens through these groups. To learn more about serving in this way, visit our Committee Vacancies page.
