Faith-Based Organizations

“Preparing for a Disaster: A Guide for Faith Communities”
(199 kb Adobe Acrobat document)

The potential for a disastrous situation occurring has increased.  Not only do we need to worry about natural disasters such as floods and fires, but society needs to be concerned over man-made and biological disasters.  Churches, mosques, temples, and synagogues are now being called upon to join the wider efforts to prepare people for all types of disasters.

In order to help you better prepare a variety of resources and information about congregational disaster planning have been pulled together in one document for use by the faith communities.  Because each congregation is unique, this guide should be used based on the needs and capacity of the individual congregation.

Planning Publication

A new publication, Pandemic Influenza Planning: A Guide for Individuals and Families, is designed to help you understand the threat of a pandemic flu outbreak in our country and your community. It describes common sense actions that you can take in preparing for a pandemic.

The Spanish language version of the Planning Guide is being developed and should become available soon. Go to www.flu.gov/individualfamily/familyguide.html
