Descriptive Narrative:
Basalt dikes in Quarry Fourteen are extensions of those in Quarry Thirteen. There are, however, an increase in the number and possibly in the width of dikes to the southwest within the quarry. The basalt is surrounded by red granite that is extensively exposed in the walls. Shear zones are clearly developed.
Quarry Fourteen is slightly elongate, of moderate size, and has a maximum depth of 47 feet. Large beams floating in the water and found on the spoils pile to the northeast, are remnants of a crane used for lifting blocks out of the quarry.
