Ski Patrol Registration Open
Registration is open for anyone wanting to volunteer to be the "eyes and ears" of Stearns County Park Department. Volunteers patrol trails from December through February. They report on the conditions of the trail, number of other park visitors, and any damages, problems, or concerns of the park.
Cross-country ski patrol volunteers are needed at:
Ski patrol volunteers:
- are at least an intermediate skier
- should be familiar with the park they patrol
- can register at any of the four parks
- must sign up for two hour shifts
- ski the trails and observe conditions, lighting and visitors
- submit a report to the park office
When there isn't enough snow for skiing, we ask the patrol to hike the trails instead. Reports are important for the maintenance of the parks. Volunteers who sign up for two or more patrols receive a free Quarry Park permit.
