Law and Public Safety
Stearns County keeps its citizens safe using canine deputies, mounted reserve, D.A.R.E., law enforcement and community service.
The D.A.R.E. curriculum is taught to approximately 700 fifth and sixth grade students each year by deputies from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office. Chosen because of their real life experiences with drugs and violence, they have special commitment to help kids and serve as positive role models.
Community Service Work (also called Sentence to Service) is court-ordered volunteer work. The program was discontinued at Stearns County in 2017. Work was done for non-profit, community-based, or government organizations, and served as an alternative to serving jail time, in lieu of paying a fine, or as a sanction by itself.
Stearbs County Sheriff's Office supports the safety and well-being of all persons and property in Stearns County. They are provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by a team of dedicated officers and staff.
