Administration Center
Address: 705 Courthouse Square, St. Cloud MN 56303
On December 3, 1990, the Stearns County Administration Center officially opened.
Construction on the four-story facility began on September 4, 1989 and was finished two months ahead of the original February 4, 1991 completion date.
The $9 million project was designed to accentuate the Courthouse and Law Enforcement Center. It was completed more than $1 million under budget; the original estimate was $10.078 million.
The granite-looking exterior of the building is actually a pre-cast aggregate. Tinted windows are the latest in energy efficiency. A state-of-the-art electronic card reader system controls locking and unlocking of doors. A highly efficient energy management system controls hot water heating, rooftop cooling, and ventilation units. Voice and data common cabling runs throughout the building and provides for flexible, future-oriented information systems management.
The Administration Center increased efficiency and effectiveness of services by consolidating departments located in several buildings. Departmental moves began during the last weekend of December 1990 and took eight weeks to complete. Public Health completed the consolidation process when they moved into the Administration Center in the fall of 1992.
Office hours in the building are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
