The primary duty of the Sheriff’s Office is the safety and well-being of all people and property in Stearns County. The Sheriff’s Office patrols and handles law enforcement duties within the unincorporated areas of the County, they manage the County jail, handle the 911 Dispatch Center, and civil processes such as subpoenas, restraining orders, foreclosures, evictions and judgments. They provide boat and water patrol, snowmobile patrol, bike patrol, mounted reserve, dive team, and the K-9 unit. They also focus on crime prevention.
The Sheriff’s Office consists of seven divisions: Administration, Patrol, Criminal Investigative, Civil, Communications, Jail, and Records Division.
